About the Course:

Thursdays May 22nd - June 19th

6-8pm EST via Zoom

Facilitated by Meg Max

Hit Submit was developed to support new, nervous and neurodivergent writers who have writing they’d like to submit to literary magazines, but find themselves struggling to take that big step alone. Hit Submit offers support and structure, moving together through the processing of preparing everything you need to submit your work. By the end of our 5 weeks together, you’ll not only have hit submit, you’ll know everything you need to continue sharing your writing with the world.

The course will cover:

  • How to find open submissions

  • Understanding the language of literary magazines

  • Prepping your work for submission (self editing, workshopping)

  • Simplifying the admin work: Bios, cover letters and keeping track of your submissions

  • Dealing with fear, rejection and overwhelm during the submission process

  • Hitting submit

Registered participants also get access to:

  • Recordings of presentation portions of the sessions

  • Copies of slides

  • Access to resources, templates and other support materials

Each week, time is provided for questions and conversation. Together, we take steps towards your goal of submitting your writing to literary magazines, hitting submit in our final session. In between course meetings, simple assignments will be provided to help you continue the process of preparing to share your writing with the world.

Week 1: Submitting Your Writing to Literary Magazines Webinar

Week 2: Deciding where to submit your work; Bios & cover letters; Meet your workshopping group

Week 3: Preparing your work for submission; Mock workshop & workshopping overview

Week 4: Workshop

Week 5: Hit Submit

By the end of this course you'll have a polished piece of writing, at least one submission sent, and know what you need to continue submitting your writing to lit magazines.

This course can host a maximum of 50 participants. The larger group size allows for more accessible ticket prices. However, there are a variety of opportunities for small group interaction and community building built into the course, both within and outside of the structured sessions.

Please note that prices are in Canadian dollars and times are in Eastern Standard Time
