About the event

All sessions take place via Zoom on Wednesdays from 6-8pm UK time. All sessions will be recorded and shared with all ticket holders, so it is possible to engage with the sessions even when you cannot attend live. 

Planning Your Novel 

Mar 20th - Apr 10th (4 sessions)

Session 1: Whose Story is it?

We'll start to develop our primary characters and their voices

Session 2: What Happens?

We'll lay out the series of events our story will cover

Session 3: When, Where and for How Long?

We'll delve into setting and world-building

Session 4: How Does it Happen?

We'll experiment with plot, structure and perspective

Writing Your Novel

Apr 17th - Jul 3rd (12 sessions)

Sessions 1-6: Discussion and Guided Writing

Through a series of discussions and exercises, we'll focus on getting words on the page

Sessions 7-12: Guided Writing and Workshopping

While continuing our writing practice, we will start to share and feedback on each other's work.

*as standard we'll be aiming to write 60,000 words across 12 weeks, but writers will be supported in setting personal word count/time writing goals

Editing Your Novel

Jul 10th - Jul 31st (4 sessions)

Session 1: Structure & Pacing

We'll look at macro considerations like summary vs scene, and order of events.

Session 2: Showing & Telling

We'll think about keeping our writing detailed, specific and active.

Session 3: Language & Style

We'll look at how grammar, punctuation and word choice are tools we can use to our advantage.

Session 4: Summary & Submission

We'll consider how to write engaging summaries and cover letters in preparation for submitting to agents/publishers.
